004: How I decorated my apartment
+ bed sheets from Korea, rugs from Morocco, and a Le Corbusier from Facebook
Happiness is having your own apartment (and decorating it).
This was admittedly my first time buying a couch not from Craigslist or Urban Outfitters. I scoped out the acronym brands— CB2, ABC, RH.. but everything had long lead times. I stumbled upon Six Penny and fell in love with their Ziki Sofa. They also makes the cutest headboards. My coffee table came from a vintage shop on Instagram.
The floor lamp is Pablo Designs. I have the medium height but they make everything from a table size to one much taller. The Zebra blanket is from a lovely textile designer and matches the Cold Picnic rug quite well.
Speaking of rugs, I was beyond thrilled with these which came from Morocco via Harem Modern and Relic Home. What I love about Harem Modern particularly is that their rugs are one-of-ones.
The bed frame doesn’t particularly make my heart sing and is probably the most utilitarian item in the apartment. Duvet and sheets came from Korean-based brand GATA, and while there are a lot of dupes, these are the original.
I have a stack of vintage Playboys, this one with Pamela Anderson in a cowboy hat being my fave. Mine were found thrifting in Baltimore but eBay’s a good next bet. Right now they’re displayed along a wall ledge but in the future I might frame them. I love my Jar from Jonathan Adler (it’s empty right now but has held everything from condoms to computer cords..).
The candlesticks are Dusen Dusen, purchased on Areaware which is a fabulous store for home doodads. The holders are from Etsy. Every Christmas my mom treats me to the Jo Malone Oil Diffuser. I think it’s great to have a signature home scent.
My prized possession - this pony haired LC1 Le Corbusier chair which I found on Facebook Marketplace. The MoMA has one for their permanent collection and now so do I! My biggest shopping regret is that the seller had two and I only came home with one. Speaking of MoMA, my Yoshitomo Nara skate deck came from their online store.
I don’t keep a ton of plants, however I do love this Basketball Planter from Original Rose. I also put a Eucalyptus Lavender bundle in the shower. You can get one from a local florist or on Etsy. Towels from Dusen Dusen! I also have their trash bin. All very bright and colorful. Makes me feel like I live in a pineapple under the sea.
The wall clock is by the late Gaetano Pesce who has been an artistic inspiration since my time at Parsons School of Design. You can find various color ways on 1st Dibs. The bamboo mirror was thrifted in Brooklyn at Dobbin St Vintage Co-Op in Greenpoint, NY.
That’s all for this week! Say hi & pls share this newsletter with a friend <3
