If Sienna Miller lived in Victorian times — that is what I want to channel with my style this season.
I have decided a grand return to NYC is inevitable after living in SF the past few years, which has me excited to dress in anything other than athleisure sets and Salomon trail runners. I find winter in New York so romantic and I plan to dress like it. Other than city wear, I’m also shopping for a wedding in Connecticut, skiing in Switzerland, and a visit to Park City.
Here’s the first part of a winter guide.. all things cold weather. Without further adieu..!
Moda Operandi has an incredible holiday edit perfect for parties, weddings, NYE, you name it. I ordered a dress from Anna October (which I first identified in the fall shopping guide), and another one from SIR. It’s my first time shopping with either of those brands and I’ll report back.
I snagged a couple finds from The Real Real— silk from Christopher Esber, sequins from Ralph Lauren, and pleats from Khaite. RL is one of my favorite brands to find on TRR. Always a great selection of sweaters, coats, and vintage. For a slightly less formal holiday-inspired dress, I went to Doen. There were a few options in my cart but ultimately I went with this Lisbeth dress.
Something I haven’t quite pulled the trigger on but am very inspired by is this silk skirt from Cawley Studio. In my mind, I’m picturing this as Carrie Bradshaw-core and would pair it with a cashmere bralette or tank, like this one I just bought (also Ralph Lauren).
I also love this top from La Ligne and think it would be a perfect match with tights and the infamous Tank Air mini skirt which is shorter than short.
I’ve been seening Lisa Yang’s name pop up in every blog, fashion tiktok etc etc. Big fan of her cashmere sweater with the matching hood. I think I can justify this as a moving to NY gift… but something I love and cannot justify is Nonna Lietta’s wool tops and neck scarves.
I’m always looking for pants that are not trousers or jeans. These Tigra Tigra ruched silk pants in olive would be so cute with a going out top or even a simple cotton t shirt. Also in olive, is a velvet pant from La Ligne. They also come in a black and beige.
I am obsessed with a statement jacket (some personal faves in my closet are this R13 zebra coat from years ago and a vintage red suede trench from the 60s). I am deeply compelled by Tigra Tigra’s puffy silk coat in this Dalmatian-esque print. It must be noted that not only does Tigra Tigra make stunning pieces of clothing. They also make fantastic homeware— this throw included which I plan to purchase for my next apartment.
While we’re on the subject of statement outerwear. Cawley Studio’s cow print jacket is a need not a want. I’m torn between the jacket and the vest version. Please weigh in, I need reinforcement. For those of you who liked the shape of that jacket but want something more subdue, they make a solid color version in chocolate which is lovely.
I have recently discovered Mohawk General Store and came across this shearling jacket with calf leather. What I like, perhaps even more however, is this vest with the leather tie. Part of my core capsule wardrobe is the Intimissimi cashmere boat neck and turtle neck tops. That’s exactly what I would wear underneath.
A vest I did purchase is the Marta Gilet with Bows from Damson Madder, another brand I just discovered! It’s reminiscent of many things I loved about Sandy Liang, Ganni, and Simone Rocha in their early outerwear days. In the same swoop, I also snagged this leopard print hood (will go nicely with my Nanushka puffer), the Pia Midi Dress (for a California Friendsgiving), and the Dakota Bow Midi Dress (for family dinner in Connecticut).
One of my absolute favorite cult shoe brands, Swedish Hasbeens, is having a stellar sale. I’m tempted by these shearling covered wooden platform boots but need someone to back me up on them. Although on second thought, the price is too good to not get them.. the plain knee boots have been on my wish list forever and also are 40% off. These are a bit more late summer/fall to me as I’d probably wear them with a white t shirt and long denim shorts. A winter must is No 6’s shearling clogs. Comfy cozy, good every day shoe.
Some of you, and hopefully me, will end up somewhere warm this winter so I’ll start putting together a guide for what that shopping looks like. My heart really wants to wear this silk embroidered dress on a beach somewhere come January…. so we’ll see!
That’s all for now! Say hi & share with a friend <3
